EXTENSION OF VERNACULAR COTTAGE

STRAFFAN, CO KILDARE

The subject property is located on Barberstown Road, just outside the village boundary of Straffan. The site was previously home to a single-storey detached vernacular cottage, which is not a protected structure. The proposed development includes a sensitively designed single-storey, four-bedroom extension that respects the scale and form of the original cottage, preserving its distinctive character. The existing cottage will continue to serve ancillary functions, housing a library, sitting room, and TV room, thereby ensuring its ongoing use and integration with the new extension. This design maintains a harmonious relationship between the old and new elements of the property.
