The original cottage represents the authentic mountain vernacular architecture that was common in this region during that period. The split-level extension complements the existing structure through matching scale and form. The white rendered walls and grey slate roof maintain the building's original character while updating it for modern living. The design successfully bridges past and present, showing how rural architecture can be adapted for contemporary use while respecting its historical context.
